Intercultural Brock House Wedding

Last weekend John took the lead with me (Kendra) by his side to shoot an intercultural wedding over at Brock House.

What we didn’t know is that a crazy storm would kick up and we would be shooting this wedding reception with absolutely no electricity! The day started off with rainstorms which isn’t unusual for Vancouver weather – but we caught a quick break to do some outdoor portraits post ceremony.

But by the time we departed for the reception the rains and winds came back and THEY. WERE. FIERCE! Thank goodness this wedding was at the end of August and not in mid-December because we lost power before the reception at The Grand Ballroom at Riverside began, which left the couple scrambling to find generators so the caterers could cook dinner for their 200 guests!

As photographers we always bring our own portable and battery powered lighting with us – so we were still able to get great photos but the video team had a tough time since video requires constant light! Oh dear! Thankfully they had incredible planners over at Dreamgroup who saved the day tracking down generators (which were enough to cook the food but not light up the venue) and we had a very romantic candle lit reception with tons and tons of candles from ikea!

What a day! Check out the pictures below:
