Hopcott Farm Wedding during Heat Wave

Whew – Taja & Richard truly got married on what was one of the hottest days of the year! Temperatures hit a whopping 38°C at this Hopcott Farm Wedding, so we had to make some very rapid changes at the last minute to accommodate this couple and all of their guests in the heat! This meant being flexible to change portrait locations and times, being willing to stand out in the sun while the couple stood in the shade and shooting those portraits WAY faster than we had planned to so that no one had to face heat stroke!

To accommodate the heat we tried to take as many wedding party portraits indoors & in the shade in the morning as we could manage that way we could avoid the mid-day sun’s heat. Because their ceremony was almost 1 hour long in the sun without any shade we knew we likely would not be able to shoot the family portraits immediately after as the couple had originally planned. Instead we let everyone head into the shade of the barn to rest and recover with cold water and snacks and rearranged to shoot portraits later in the day when the sun was a bit lower – this mean the schedule got shifted but the staff at Hopcott Farm was able to accommodate the couple and made everything so easy!

Other highlights included: a Summer camp theme with lots of outdoor games, marshmallow roasting, and a late night visit from a taco truck!

Tell us what you think of their photos! Did we make it work despite the intense heat?
