Ordering a Wedding Album from a Different Photographer

We offer album design services for weddings we didn’t photograph… but what’s the protocol for ordering one?

Brad and I understand that albums are an incredible amount of work to design and produce, as a result, many photographers are unable to take that kind of work on.

For that reason we design wedding albums even for weddings we didn’t photograph.

There are a couple things we need in order to design and print a wedding we did not photograph:

• The most important thing we require is the written permission from the photographer, or copyright holder. This may be in the form of a contract you signed with your photographer. We also accept emails or written letters. Either way you must have permission to print the images through a means outside of your photographer, we cannot begin design work. In Canada, the copyright holder is the wedding photographer by default unless otherwise stated.
• Next, you’ll need to decide what the budget for your project is. Our custom albums come in a very wide variety of sizes, shapes, and cover materials. Some of our albums have a set number of pages while others can have pages added them. They start as low as $250 for an extra small hand mounted album. Extra, extra large flush mounted albums with all the trimmings can cost upwards of $2000. Deciding on the project budget will play a large factor in determining what type of album to get.
• You’ll also need to decide if you want to pay for culling services or select the images you want to include in the album yourself. The process of selecting images is called “culling”, and our rate for culling services is $0.06/ image.
• Lastly, you’ll need to set up a free consultation appointment. It is good to know your options before making an investment. Set aside time to come in and feel the textures of the cover materials, and look at the swatches in person. We have many album samples, in various sizes and styles. Flipping through them in person will give you a better idea of what you want, opposed to looking at images online.
