Engagement – Tyler & Jessie

It takes so much trust in a photographer to give them complete control over a situation with the hope that they will deliver consistently beautiful images, which is why it feels like the world’s greatest compliment when clients say “Do whatever you want for our shoot, we have complete faith in you” and totally jump on board with my concepts & ideas.

I’ve had an idea for a lakeside engagement shoot floating around in my head for quite awhile now, where I was planning on renting a rowboat & shooting out on a lake at sunset. I was so stoked when I suggested the idea to Tyler & Jessie and they got just as excited as me to shoot it!

On Friday we headed down to Deer Lake Park in Burnaby where we shot some beautiful portraits in and around the Burnaby Art Gallery & Shadbolt Center for Performing Arts before we headed out onto the lake in an adorable white rowboat. The setting autumn just lit the trees up in magnificent oranges and yellows while Jessie & Tyler took turns rowing & relaxing , while Brad and I shot from the dock.  As evening drew nearer the lake started to get very still and the boat was reflected so beautifully in the water – it just made for such a pretty scene. I hardly ever get to shoot landscape scenes so it was a lovely chance of pace for me too!

Many thanks to Tyler & Jessie, who indulged me for this stunning shoot which was not only really fun to shoot but allowed me to step outside the box a bit and challenge myself as a photographer. I CANNOT WAIT to shoot your wedding next summer – I know it’s going to be a blast! Big ups to Brad who backed me up – he’s like the world’s best assistant/second shooter/keep-me-in-check-er. <3
