Low Key Wedding in Surrey

Amy & Ray were not the type of people to spend a small fortune on one day in their lives – their hopes were clear from the get-go – they just wanted to have a low key wedding and be surrounded by the people they loved as they pledged their lives together. They didn’t want a wedding party – in fact they sat with their parents during dinner – they didnt want luxury anything, just authentic good feelings and a whole lotta love. We first met Amy & Ray when we shot a wedding for friends of theirs and were seated at their table during dinner. They were playful and fun, and Amy told me that she had a dog walking business and I told her that I had an un-walkable dog who had way too much energy.

Fast forward to September and these two tied the knot at the Sullivan Community Hall in Surrey. Amy worked relentlessly, making all of her own decorations along with the help of her brother, for the big day, in hopes that they would exchange vows under the pine trees outside of the hall. Amy got ready in a camper out in the parking lot, and of course it rained harder than all hell and at the last minute (about 2 hours before the ceremony) everything was moved inside of the hall which was crazy, and crowded — but honestly kinda nice to be so closely surrounded by the people who loved them most.

Afterwards they grabbed a couple of beers, handed Brad the keys to their car and we booted up the road to Watershed Park to shoot some portraits in the canopy of the forest before returning to the party for a BBQ cookout. Even with the rain it was a solid wedding, and we had a ton of fun shooting it.
