Intimate Centennial Beach Wedding in Ladner

The past couple of years we have seen more and more backyard weddings, and I have to say I’m loving it. This intimate beach wedding took place on the traditional lands of the Tsawwassen First Nation’s people was one for the books. (Fun fact: The oldest finds in the area of Tsawwassen First Nation settled by means of radiocarbon dated to about 2260 BC, just a few meters from where this wedding took place!) What I loved most about this beach wedding is that it took place in the couple’s home (whereas many backyard weddings take place at a parent’s home) There something so special about looking into your own backyard for years to come and remembering and reliving such a happy day! The other part of this wedding that we really loved is that the bride’s brother officiated the wedding and that is just so touching and special! The most important part of weddings is the connection we share with others and it was so refreshing to photograph a wedding where the connections were so powerful – you could really just see how much this couple was loved by all of the people who attended.

If I could do my wedding over again there is a good chance it would be a beach wedding. The fresh air, and cool breeze just make for such a beautiful atmosphere. It would just feel so nice to be connected to the earth and to feel so grounded on such a momentous day.
