PWPC | Wedding Photography Awards | Fall 2013

The Professional Wedding Photographers of Canada Fall 2013 Wedding Photography awards are in! We are so thrilled and honoured to take home first place in the Wedding Humor category, and 13-th best overall!

When I arrived the morning of Stephanie & Dalen’s wedding Stephanie could barely contain her excitement. We were standing outside on her balcony shooting a few details of her bouquet when her best friend joined us and yelled “You’re getting married in like an hour!” This was Stephanie’s reaction. I LOVE this image. This says absolutely everything about how she was feeling at that very  moment in time. And of course once she saw her handsome groom at the end of the aisle, those nervous excited feelings calmed and were replaced by overwhelming love. That’s why I think skipping portraits of the couple getting ready in the morning should be a crime – there is too much energy in the morning to miss out on that!

I think late photographer Lewis Hine says it best though:
“If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn’t need to lug around a camera.”
