Professional Fine Art Albums

I hear a lot of photographer gripe about having to design wedding albums but honestly it’s probably my favourite part of the job because it’s the last thing I give my clients as they leave our studio for the final time. I take so much pride in our wedding albums because I honestly believe that they are the curated version of how the day felt. Unlike a lot of other photographers who see their clients at the initial booking, and again at the wedding, Brad and I spend a lot of time with our clients getting to know them. We’ve usually met up with the couples we work with 5-6 or more times before the actual wedding day (with the exception of destination weddings of course), and they feel more like friends than like clients by the end of our time together. The reason we spend so much time together is because it’s important for us to not just come in with some sort of artistic vision that doesn’t mean anything, but to have a vision that aligns with how the day feels for our clients, so that when they look back at their album in twenty years it stirs the same emotions up for them time and time again.

It would be easy to fill an album with obligatory shots – the bride holding her flowers, family portraits etc, but I love tossing obligatory out the window and designing an album with emotional weight and substance. Moments that caught the couple by surprise, or being overcome with unexpected emotion; be it touching emotion, or just the hilarity of the moment. The process of culling down the images and curating a specific gallery that is intended to instill emotion in the viewer is an important part of what I do as an artist, and being able to move someone in a few pages is a pretty powerful thing. :)
