Destination Wedding Varadero Cuba | Lori + Mike

Back in October we flew into Varadeo Cuba, for a destination wedding at the Riu Varadero. Shooting in Cuba was such an awesome experience but what made it even better was that Lori + Mike are old family friends of my parents. So it was actually kind of a cool wedding to shoot because my mother was a bridesmaid, and it gave me very different perspective on what it means to support a friend on their wedding day. Plus my mother never ever lets me take pictures of her, so I also got to freely shoot portraits of my own mother without her being able to complain about it. My favourite part of shooting a destination wedding though had to be spending an entire week with the couple & all of their friends and family, and getting to know them all. I loved sitting around the pool chatting with them, I loved documenting Mike & Lori’s granddaughters in the pool, I traveled to Havana with everyone, and took a sailboat out snorkeling with them too. It all made shooting the wedding so much easier because I got to really see the relationships and who was really important to them and I loved that part of it. I can’t wait to shoot another destination wedding again!
