Vancouver LGBT Wedding Photographer | Burnaby Engagement Session | Holly + Alanna

Sigh, A+ H… I have sooooo much to say about you two!! (Bear with me while I get all sappy, folks!)

I was so thrilled & honoured when Alanna & Holly asked if I would shoot their wedding after they got engaged on New Years Eve.

Their wedding is going to be awesome for a lot of reasons.
1) It’s at the perfect time of year, early fall. Not so hot you sweat all day, but not too cold for an evening ceremony
2) The ceremony is at sunset. (Does it get any more romantic than that?)
3) Their wedding colours are my FAVOURITE colours
4) They have a ton of personal touches that reflect their relationship.

BUT ABOVE ALL:

5) They are truly, madly, deeply in love and it shows.

It’s not every day that I hang out with a couple who are so kind and loving and openly affectionate towards each other. It’s in the way they look at each other, speak to each other and laugh with each other and just being around them inspires me to be more kind, more loving and more affectionate in my own marriage. It’s a reminder of why I became a wedding photographer in the first place – because I loved love. I love seeing it and being surrounded by it. I love waking up, going to work and getting to see two people who are head-over-heels-crazy-about-each-other vow their lives to one another. I love seeing couples vow to be kind and patient with one another, to support each other through the hard times, to laugh and enjoy the good times together, to create a family, to be a friend, to help each other remember when they get old and forget, to take care of one another when they are ill, to learn and grow together. What more wonderful thing can life even offer than a life-long companion? Not much in my {not so} humble opinion.

When I’m around Holly & Alanna their love is more than evident and it’s truly an honour to have people like that in my life to inspire me, let alone be lucky enough to document such a special day for them! Someone recently asked me if I felt being an LGBT wedding photographer would deter business from us. The fact is I’m proud to be an LGBT wedding photographer, and anyone who has a problem with that is probably not the client for me anyways!

H+A – you two are the absolute best! I <3 your faces off and I can’t wait to see you both in September for your fabulous gay wedding. (Though I plan to see you both a lot more before then!) Also, happy belated birthday Alanna! I hope it was amazing and you got everything you asked for and deserved!!

-K.
